Getting Ready For Snow

As we receive our first snow of the season, Hopkins County Collision encourages you to take a close look at the body of your vehicle.
Those small paint chips or scratches that have been a small cosmetic issue until now need to be painted or sealed. The snow and ice on the roads can get into these spots and cause rust to form. Those small cosmetic fixes can turn into much larger, expensive damage once rust begins.
Also, cracks or rock chips in your windshield should be repaired ASAP. When glass contracts in cold temperature, those cracks or chips can expand. Again, a small cosmetic issue will turn into a much larger one if a repairable crack turns into an entire windshield that needs to be replaced.
Check all of the bulbs in your lights. With shorter daylight times and visibility that can become limited in storms, working headlights and taillights are essential. Some of these lights can be changed on your own, but some will require to quick trip to the body shop. Headlamps also need to be polished as they fade over time.
An important factor for everyone in winter is to keep your vehicle washed off. Salt from the roads can damage your paint, so it’s important to keep it washed away and your vehicle waxed when possible.
As always, keep an extra blanket in your vehicle, allow yourself more time to stop by keeping extra space between yourself and other vehicles and remember to slow down.
If we can help with any of your issues before the weather makes them worse, give us a call at 270-821-0681 or come see us at 1550 Beulah Rd., Madisonville, KY.
